Hi there, I’m Kirsty McDermott, the makeup artist behind Makeup by Kirsty

My journey into makeup wasn’t a straight line. I hold a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts, and I’ve spent years on stage as a classically trained singer, ballroom and Latin dance teacher, and creative performer - put your hand up if you have been a hula hoop instructor🤚 . I’ve always loved the transformation that happens when someone steps into their power—whether it’s through movement, music, or makeup.

I also spent over 10 years in the fitness industry, helping people feel strong, confident, and capable in their own skin. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for personal connection, inner strength, and what it really means to feel good from the inside out.

Becoming a certified professional makeup artist was the natural next step. It allows me to combine everything, artistry, energy & a bit of fun along the way. My goal is simple: to help you look and feel your absolute best. Whether you’re walking down the aisle, stepping in front of a camera, heading to a special event or want to walk through the shopping center feeling extra. I’ll make sure your makeup enhances your natural features and suits YOU.

I specialise in bridal and event makeup, soft glam, and camera-ready looks, with a focus on flawless skin, timeless style, and making the whole process relaxed, fun, and tailored to you.
